Whats in a Number!

If you ask any one probably half my age, the first thing they hate nowadays is Numbers. Little do they know, at least to count their salary they need to learn numbers? I am greatful to my Math teachers for at least filling in a decent amount of interest in Mathematics and of course to my dad for my excessive interest in numbers. A little kudos to my mom as well, who tried to teach her – Psychology Statistics to my when I was studying Statistcs in Class 7! Continuing with my occasional PJs even my name is Synonymous with Number (read Amar). Aah forget it, I have been watching too much of the week that wasn’t.

Weather I want it or not, my whole life is jumbled with numbers. Starting the last day of the month, when I get the pay, to the 10th day, when I get my flexible pay, to the penultimate day when I get my spend analyzer results one or the other way, I deal with numbers. In a few days, I turn 26 and being a typical scorpio, if I go by Bejan Daruwallah, at least to show off, I am possesive about that number as well!

The world too unknowingly runs on numbers. People who haggle for a rupee with the roadside vendor, do complex calculations unknowingly to count their savings! I saw a lady bargaining over a rupee in the annual Groundnut Festival in Basavanagudi (Kallekai Parashe). Was this why she was taught the numbers?

For me anything that relates to numbers kindles interest. The whole of today, I have been searching where I can land. Coming to my age, as I say, its just a number. I am just six years old (by heart) and have probably got a long way to go!
