Of Indian Politics…

Indian politics is known to look one way and act the other. As an audience the agenda of our politicians at times bewilder you and at times frustrate you to the core. The localized Indian politics is never a desirable mix and as the dance of democracy in India progresses every year, still, the politics seem to be mind-altering, at times paradigm changing arena which weaves hundreds of thoughts and ideas into a coherent and uncontestable world-view.

While one part of India, argues on politics being the art of Goondaism, Rigging and Dynastism proved by the so-called centric Indian National Congress, the other side boasts of being secular like the BJP. Not to be left behind are the semi-left parties who seem to be lost between the original Marxism and well, the so-called new Chinese left and of course loads of affiliation oriented regional parties.

A country that gave Chanakya, the master of politics now seems to suffer on the issues of foreign policy, internal security, and environmental concerns. The political parties have ensured that the concept of ‘freedom’ is as dubious to the ‘citizen’ as the monsoons for the Indian farmer.

For long, its been considered that our political system is a basket of rotten apple. To root the rot out, it is imperative that we join the system. The process has to be a step-by-step procedure. The political system is a vital organ and therefore there cannot be any quick fix solution. Our youth has innate potential and its time they enter into fray and realize that “Policy formulation, implementation and adherence to it, begins at home”. The political scenario today may be one of utter disgust and chaos bad behavior with a blend of corruption, its we who can change it visibly as well as structurally.

Jai Hind!

PS: Had to restrict the article to 300 words. I know that as promised the obamamania article is pending, but is half composed in draft due to other pre-occupations.

Whats this got to do with LIP? I think there is too much divide over LIP/ Non-LIP, whoever you are and whoever is creating it!

Great article. While disgust is often the first thing one feels while thinking of our politics, its up to us to (at the risk of sounding cliche) ‘be the change we wish to see in the world’.

On a side note, your mention of your forthcoming article on obamamania reminded me of an article I just wrote on Obama’s visit. I’d love to hear your views.

@Shruthi: Thanks for your comments! Yes I do resound with Gandhi’s statements ‘be the change we wish to see in the world’ as well. Just that Indian leaders lack the power and conviction to convert what they speak into action.
